Illinois State Police Troop 15 Cmdr. Linda Mandat has announced the State Police will conduct special Nighttime Enforcement patrols in DuPage and Kane counties during March. The patrols allow the State Police to focus on preventing, detecting and taking enforcement in response to impaired driving and occupant restraint violations, especially between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., according to a news release from the State Police. The number of unrestrained drivers killed in traffic crashes is significantly higher at nighttime and combined with impaired driving means even more traffic deaths during those hours, according to the release.
