A bill sitting on Gov. J.B. Pritzker's desk could soon allow Aurora to dispose of lime sludge in a mine on the northeast side of town. House Bill 3095 recently passed the state Senate, with state Sen. Linda Holmes, D-Aurora, as its sponsor. It has previously passed the House, sponsored by state Rep. Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora. Holmes, the assistant majority leader, said the measure would allow Aurora to dispose of lime sludge used in treating its drinking water in a limestone mine on the edge of town.
