The Aurora City Council appears ready to approve more than $1 million in Quality of Life grants on Tuesday night for social service agencies in the city. City Council members, meeting as a Committee of the Whole, had no comment after reviewing the grants on Feb. 7. They are given out to social service agencies once a year, funded mostly be gaming tax revenue from Hollywood Casino - Aurora. This year's awards are about $100,000 more than were given out last year. Quality of Life grants are given to organizations that provide for Aurora citizens in the areas of basic needs, community, education and youth, mental health, museums and services for seniors.
