Advocate Aurora Health and Atrium Health said have closed the transaction for a business combination to create Advocate Health. Advocate Health will serve as a corporate entity for Charlotte's Atrium Health as well as Advocate Aurora Health in Wisconsin and Illinois. The two regional health-care systems announced their planned joint operating agreement in May and had been awaiting regulatory approvals at the state and federal levels. The newly created organization will rank as the fifth-largest nonprofit, integrated health system in the nation.
